How good is mobile coverage in South Africa?
It is excellent. About 90% of the entire country is covered by both MTN and Vodacom LTE(4G).
All National roads in South Africa - N1, N2, N3 etc are covered 100% by MTN and Vodacom.
Simunye Mobile operates nationwide on MTN but also Telkom in urban areas.
Simunye Mobile 5G is only available on MTN and only in major towns and cities.
Is there mobile coverage in Kruger National Park?
When it comes to The Kruger National Park, MTN and Vodacom have near equal coverage, in or near the main rest camps. There are however many places in Kruger with zero coverage, from any terrestrial network. So don't believe any offer of 'seamless coverage wherever you go' from other eSIM stores.
How much data do I need?
If you're not sure or you don't want to think about it you can always get one of our unlimited plans, see the FUP in each plan.
But when it comes to fixed cap plans, 10GB for 30 days should be good for regular use, such as Google Maps, email, browsing, even WhatsApp audio calling.
Where you might need more is when you watch a lot of video, broadcast live, video calling etc.
What also helps to economise data use is to not allow too much photo/video syncing to cloud storage while on mobile data. Also avoid app and OS updates. Save that for WiFi.
